Milestone: Click Chemistry in Cancer Therapy

A major advancement for bioorthogonal chemistry: For the first time, click chemistry has been successfully and safely applied in cancer therapy in humans. The so-called CAPAC® platform by Shasqi (Click Activated Protodrugs Against Cancer) enables the activation of an inactive doxorubicin prodrug directly within the tumor tissue – using a precise click reaction between a tetrazine-based polymer and a TCO-labeled drug.

The result: Significantly higher drug doses with reduced side effects, along with strong immune activation. A true milestone in oncology.
